Firefly Park Resort
Bukit Belimbing in Kuala Selangor is the only
place in this region where you can witness the sight
of millions of fireflies flashing in synchrony,
often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder
of the World”.
You will be taken on a boat ride along the Selangor
River where the fireflies inhibit around the branches
of the “Berembang” trees along the riverbank.
Here, up to thousands of fireflies may group together
on a tree, beginning their display about one hour
after sunset. A really bright display lasts for
about two to three hours, continuing at lower levels
until dawn.
The night at the resort is remarkably and unforgettable,
as though the preliminary love… The firefly,
bringing the lantern so as to escort and to lighten
up the night, looked like the exuberant stars fell
into the lush growth of grass, and also the night
pearl which extended to everywhere. This mysterious
and beautiful light show is in fact a mating ritual,
as male fireflies light up to signal their desire
for mates – and willing females attract the
males with flashes of their own.
